Peyto Glacier is in full retreat from the Little Ice Age position marked by the trees. In 1902 the glacier margin was near the stream in the center of the image. The wooded ridge in front of the moraine belt is bedrock. Peyto meltwater drains through a gap in the bedrock and deposits an outwash train.
