The following instructions will allow you to create a mixture that has many properties of glacier ice, except that it operates on a much shorter time scale.
What is needed:
4 parts (teaspoons) Elmers Glue All
4 parts (teaspoons) water
1 part (teaspoon) saturated borax solution
1. Make a saturated borax solution by adding about 1 tablespoon of 20 Mule Team Borax to 1 cup of water. Stir until all borax dissolves if needed add more borax until some solid remains on the bottom of the mixing bowl.
2. Shake the borax solution; mix glue and water in a container.
3. Add one part borax solution to glue/water mixture stir with a spoon or mixing stick until the mixture sets up. You may want to add small amounts of the borax solution to fix the entire glue/water mixture.
4. Pull the mixture out of the mixing container and fold it over until it no longer sticks to your hands.
5. If needed, preserve the mixture in a sealed container in the refrigerator.
6. Dont get the mixture on carpets, upholstery, wood furniture, paper, or pets. Enough water will dissolve the mixture - sometimes. Try to keep clean dirt will allow mold to grow on the mixture.
Wax paper makes a good working surface.
You may want to start with a flat piece of paper and then create topography by wrinkling the paper.
You can accumulate the glacier by pouring the mixture through a funnel and let it pile up on the paper and then spread out.
The dynamic nature of the mixture will vary considerable with tempeture.
