Sharonville Dam And Oxford Trip Write Up

For the last two weeks you were able to observe various sediments at both Sharonville Dam and at Oxford. Published literature from the areas allowed you to interpret the various types of sediments. Moreover at Oxford you got a better idea of how those sediments are distributed. The job now is to apply some understanding of the origin of those sediments to predict their areal distribution. In other words, we can read what hey were, but still at only at one site.

You are asked to construct a topographic profile, plot on it the observed data sources, consider all you know about tills and construct in cross-section (elevation view) what you think the sediments look like beyond your observations. Write a two page report justifying your cross-section.

The profile should run North-South, starting at the top of the map and extending through "The Bluff" site (western circle) to the red township line. For scale the distance from the N-S red line to the eastern edge of the map is 1 mi. The scale is close to a 7.5 quad map.

Note that bedrock is observed on Booth Road.

Text should be e-mailed as text only file. Cross-section should be either a TIF, JPEG, or GIF file.
